Yes; army had been &quot;fighting&quot; for a number of years to have an army museum in New Delhi with no success. Thank the British for the India Gate which serves our purpose as well; otherwise we would never have had a memorial for our dead soldiers. I don&#39;t think we single out soldiers for such dishonour; visit the cremation and burial grounds in our country. Our true disrespect for the dead will be evident! I suppose it has to do with the national karma!R. We are nation of ingrates, we do not honor our veterans nor do we honor the braves who lay down their lives for the nation. Isn&#39;t it a shame that India has not built a single monument to honor the men in uniform, whereas we dedicate acres of land for samadhi&#39;s of corrupt politicians. The British built India Gate to honor the memory of Indian soldiers who gave their life in WW I!!<br /><br />I have been living in US for past 5 years and it is amazing to see the respect showed to the men/women in uniform by the whole nation. There is a Veterans day and a memorial day celebrated by the whole nation. At every plausible public occasion (basketball, football or baseball games) they honor their vets.
